    About Us

    Our Northwest Story

Harbor was founded by Swedish immigrant Carl V. Erickson in 1923 as the West Coast Produce Company, originally located in Aberdeen, WA. Carl delivered dairy, produce and other sundries to customers in a well-worn Model T truck, getting to know his customer’s needs and forming lasting relationships. In the decades that followed, the company expanded to serve a growing list of customers, changing its name to Harbor Wholesale Grocery in 1954, eventually serving all of Western Washington by the end of the 20th century. In 2019, Harbor purchased the home base of Food Services of America and created Harbor Foodservice. Today, Carl’s great-grandson Justin is CEO. The trucks are a bit sleeker, but the principles haven’t really changed. We still focus on local customers, understanding their needs and helping them succeed.

    Harbor Culture

    Relationship Means Something

Service-first has always been our mantra, and it permeates everything we do. Our neighbor-to-neighbor spirit is cultivated throughout our team. From the personal relationships our reps and drivers have with our customers to the consulting services we provide for restaurants, we believe in taking care of each other and caring for the communities we live in. Our #HarborCares programs embody this idea as we engage with our vendors and customers to positively impact people’s lives.

Our steadfast commitment to making the company a great place to build a career has been recognized year after year, as Harbor’s been honored as one of Washington’s 100 Best Places To Work.
